Plastics and the environment

Plastic is a valuable resource, which is why our goal is to waste as little of it as possible each and every day. At Bi-Plast, since our founding in 1972, we’ve been working to avoid waste by granulating excess plastic from each mould and recycling the plastic into new parts wherever possible, whenever our customers want it.
In the 2K Monosandwich method, we can use recycled plastic for the core of the part if the customer wishes, which naturally benefits the environment.

Some of our customers choose plastic moulding because they want a substitute for metal, as metal manufacturing and finishing is often more complex and thus emits more CO2 than plastic.

Bi-Plast is certified in ISO 14001 Environmental Management and is also enrolled in Operation Clean Sweep, which aims to prevent the waste of granules from production. Read more about Operation Clean Sweep here (Danish).

Bi-Plast’s environmental policy

At Bi-Plast, we aim to continuously improve our environmental performance:

    • We strive to adapt our processes so that our manufacturing consumes as little of every resource as possible.
    • In procurement, we choose the least environmentally harmful products that can fulfil our requirements.
    • We maintain an open and honest dialogue with our stakeholders so that environmental factors are taken into account whenever possible.
    • We ensure compliance with all relevant environmental legislation.
    • We involve our staff in environmental work. Through training, information and motivation, employees must be made aware of the internal and external environment in order to act in accordance with and take responsibility for, the company’s environmental policy.
    • We survey and assess the results of our company’s environmental performance annually to maintain compliance with our environmental policy, which includes re-assessing our goals and objectives.
    • Preventing pollution.

We make protecting the environment a high priority to ensure that we are constantly improving in this area.

Power in numbers

Bi-Plast and 24 other companies made an electricity purchase deal with Reel in 2024. The goal was to buy electricity from a yet-to-be-built Danish solar farm.

The electricity purchase deal ensured the financing of Mesballe solar farm, which opened in May of 2025 and now contributes directly to the expansion of renewable energy to the Danish electricity grid.

This project shows that even small and medium-sized companies can impact and enhance the green transition, when we work in numbers.

Mesballe solar farm has gained attention all over Europe due to the large number of companies that joined forces to ensure the financing of the solar farm.
